Dear Kelly,  Congratulations to your "VIGLANT "team members for a very inspirational and successful concert on 3/6/10. Kelly you were incredible. Thank you Kelly, for allowing  me to be a part of your journey. You, your team and your spirit filled supporters accomplished a major impact on honoring our soldiers and our community. I will admit, Kelly, ( even with my best intensions for your passion ) I was seriously concerned you would not have attracted half of the audience you attracted on 3/6/10. I marvel at your accomplishment to energize GOD's being. During your concert of 3/6/10 I expierenced a number of profound and spiritual expierences. Thank you Kelly, for creating an enviroment for me to expierence these moments.  ~ NAMASTE Greg Gallagher

Congratulations on the beautiful, moving and incredibly entertaining Fallen Heroes Memorial Concert!!!  We were moved beyond belief with the strength found in the military support and sacrifice.   Bruce was especially awed during "Vigilant Soldier" when the soldiers surrounded us.  It felt like being held in a secure, supportive, stalwart embrace.

Good morning, Kelly.  The concert last night was so good.  The first half was good but the second half was spectacular!!!  You were so great.  Thank you for such a great evening.

And if your dad can give away your age to everyone, I say it is okay that you told everyone that you made me cry.
And  "Cold Sweat" still makes me choke up and I am okay with that.  Thank you for your music, words and just for you.  ~  Edie and I both send our love. - Ken

Local Fallen Heroes Honored at Concert

Grass Lake, MI - Vigilant Music presents the Fallen Heroes Memorial Concert to honor our fallen soldiers and celebrate all our active duty soldiers and veterans.  The event will be held at the Jackson Community College Potter Center, March 6, with the concert starting at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 4:00 p.m. for exhibits and pre-concert events. Tickets are $25, general seating, and profits will support the construction of a Jackson County memorial. Tickets are available online at KellyTrudell.net, CP Federal Credit Union branches, Potter Center, or by calling 517-879-7266 or 517-392-6125.

The event will focus on honoring our Jackson County fallen soldiers: Spc. D.J. Wheeler, Lcpl Brent Beeler, Sgt. Matthew Soper, and Sgt. Jim Collins, and all of Michigan's fallen heroes from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

This concert, featuring 3 different musical acts and multiple speakers and military personnel, will be a memorable patriotic experience for anyone connected to a U.S. Soldier in any way. It's a call to patriotism and reverence for America and the men and women who vigilantly protect our freedom and the values we Americans hold sacred: God, country, and family.

The concert’s organizer, musical headliner, and Nashville recording artist, Kelly Trudell, comments, “The eagle flies into the storm, then rises above it. How true for our soldiers who go into battle; for our veterans who still serve, supporting our soldiers at their deployments, their homecomings, who stand in solidarity at their funerals, and for the families who hold love's constant vigil.”

The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. with an introduction by Kelly Trudell and the presentation of colors by Colonel Curt Lapham’s JROTC cadets. Followed by our Native American Veterans performing ancient drum songs for our fallen warriors. Then JCC alumnus, Rose Queen and Miss America runner-up, Hannah Lynn sings the national anthem, followed by [title needed] Bernard “Bud” Terry giving the opening prayer. All that is just the start of the concert.

Overall the event will include over 50 Patriot Guard members in formation, Summit Township fire trucks draped with American flags, 100 flags lining the JCC Potter Center entrance, and 100 JROTC cadets to greet attendees and help with seating. Concert attendees are asked to take time to thank these young cadets – our next generation to take their “turn at the wheel.”

During seating attendees will view a slide show of our Fallen Heroes and patriotic themes that give pause for reflection and set the tone of the event.

The live music opens with Tim Styles from Nashville with his smooth acoustic, folk-rock edgy sound, performing powerful songs like “The Last Confederate” and “Winding Gyre”.  Tim is followed by the 4 piece Ben Daniels Band. Ben has a heart for our soldiers and it shows. He knows personally how it feels to lose a friend in the war in Iraq. Ben also visits Walter Reed Hospital, doing his part in supporting our soldiers. Ben is the son of actor Jeff Daniels and inherited his dad’s amazing musical and creative talents.

The headliner for the night’s concert is Kelly Trudell and her Nashville band. Kelly has a passion for our military men and women and her vigilance for truth is commanding. Accompanying her band on vocals from Jackson will be Pastor Jimmy Suddeth and his passionate City of Zion choir.
Kelly will perform songs from her current album “Vigilant”. She will also honor the Vietnam Veterans and her Uncle Paul who passed away recently with her hit song “Cold Sweat”. The finale “Vigilant Soldier” will feature 200 soldiers onstage, and Shirley Soper will recite her son Matthew Soper's poem “I Am An American Soldier” There may not be a dry eye in the house.

The evening closes with Sgt. Venneman dismissing units as they file in formation saluting the families of our fallen heroes while the audience honors all soldiers present with their hands over their hearts.  Finally a performance of a new song that Kelly wrote called “Reverence” along with great historical, patriotic quotes will be spoken by Tim Walberg, Congressman Mark Schauer, Mayor Karen Dunnigan, Bishop Ira Combs, Pastor Chuck McNeil, Bud Terry, and more.

Ben Daniels Band BIO

When Ben Daniels decided he was going to be a musician, it was more than a career choice. A natural poet, this young songwriter went to school on Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, and Jack White, among others. His lyrics speak directly to a younger generation that hears, sees, and thinks about the very things he’s writing. From their opening song to the finale of their set, the Ben Daniels Band cuts through with their originality, musicianship, and a sound that spans blues, reggae, hip hop, and even jazz.

BDB has played throughout Michigan, as well as Nashville and New York City. As a solo artist, Ben has stepped on the stage in Austin, TX at the Cactus Cafe, as well as The Barns at Wolf Trap. He has even sang at the grave of legendary bluesman Robert Johnson in Greenwood, Mississippi. The son of actor Jeff Daniels, he has quietly monitored what it takes to live life as an artist. Beyond a passed down talent, the Ben Daniels Band believes in hard work, perseverance, and creatively challenging themselves and their audience.

With George Merkel on guitar, Kalen Percha on drums, Tommy Riefel on bass, and Wesley Fritzemeier on fiddle, BDB’s live show never fails to take over the venue. Their songs become anthems with arrangements that pull people inside their sound. With two CDs (“Coming From The C” and “Checkin’ In To The Michigan Inn”) and a third on the way,  the Ben Daniels Band is the real deal.

“Then, later in the evening, ‘The Ben Daniels Band’ almost brought down the Gallery!...Transformed into an intimate concert venue, ‘The Ben Daniels Band’ thrilled the crowd with their blues-based music.”
http://chelsea-gallery.com/blog/298/great-kickoff-to-sounds-and-sites/

“The Ben Daniels Band...featuring intricate and artful lyrics...reminiscent of Adam Duritz in early Counting Crows, but also eerily similar to Everlast's best work.”
http://wildeboomerz.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

“I was impressed by how seasoned the Ben Daniels Band sounded. Daniels has a voice perfectly suited for the blues.”
http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2008/11/review_jeff_daniels_friends.html

“His son Ben joined him on stage for an original tune written by the younger of the two Daniels called, "Fake a Smile," which was one of my favorite portions of the show. Watch out for this kid, he's the real thing.”

Tim Styles BIO

Born and raised in the arrowhead range of northern Minnesota Tim started playing and signing at a young age, by 14 Tim was competing in and winning talent shows including the arrowhead idol contest. He then toured with a bluegrass band playing through Alaska and Minnesota.

At 17 Tim took his first trip to Nashville, the response to his music and style was exciting as he played clubs such as the Blue Bird Cafe where he received a standing ovation. The buzz around Nashville is positive in every way: "with his smooth blending of country folk rock and bluegrass sound... the words unique... a breath or fresh air... and original..." are truly the greatest compliments any upcoming artist can receive from Nashville.

At the age of 20 Tim is in the studio working on his first full album project that will be out in the spring of 2010.. As he begins to tour nationally Tim has said no matter where my road leads Northern Minnesota will always be home.
